Ending #9 · Kyle route

The Kyle Route

The only genuinely Kyle-focused ending in the game. Five steps, one of which nobody has managed to agree on — and that is exactly where the saves matter.

The Kyle route

Kyle is the calmest presence on the farm — grounded, helpful, always offering a chore or a seat at the table. He is also the counterweight to Silas in the one ending that genuinely runs through him.

One pure Kyle ending, one hybrid

You Promised to Come Back (#9) is the only Kyle-focused ending. Eyes (#10) also uses Kyle dialogue, but it is a mixed route that additionally needs perfect farm mini-games, a fast knife input and the correct paths — it is not a Kyle run.

You Promised to Come Back (#9) — the route

Act 1

Be kind to Kyle

The supportive dialogue options toward Kyle are the consistent thread across every player report. This is the half of the route players agree on.

Act 1 & 2

Stay comparatively cold to Silas

The other half. You are not rejecting Silas outright — you are simply not giving him the warmth. That contrast is what the ending is built on.

Act 2 · Fire scene

Send Silas home after the fire scene

This is the decision point the route report names specifically. It is the one you cannot skip, and the most common reason the route fails is taking the other option here.

Act 2 · Puzzle

Solve the puzzle

Complete the bunny puzzle. It is a confirmed checkpoint, so the route needs it cleared before the branch continues.

Act 2 · The water choice

Test both water variants

Here is the honest part. Player reports conflict on whether the later water choice should be feet-only or full entry. Run it twice from the same save, one variant per attempt, and record which one lands.

The one genuinely unresolved detail

Every other step of this route is agreed on across player reports. The water-entry choice is not. If the ending will not unlock, that is the first thing to test — not the relationship direction, which is solid.

Where the Kyle route ends up

The ending closes a loop the Silas routes leave open: you kept something of yourself, you made a promise, and the farm let you go on the terms you set. It is a comparatively quiet resolution — and it is the only ending in the game that is not a Silas scene at the end.

Frequently asked questions

One, unambiguously: You Promised to Come Back (#9). A second, Eyes (#10), mixes Kyle dialogue with a late Silas route — that is a hybrid, not a pure Kyle run.

Be kind to Kyle and comparatively cold to Silas, send Silas home after the fire scene, then solve the puzzle. That direction is consistent across player reports.

The later water choice. Some reports say feet-only, others say full entry, and the two produce different results. This is the one place the Kyle route is genuinely unresolved, so test it as two controlled variants from the same save.

No. The Kyle route is about relationship direction, not farm performance. Perfect farm work is the Eyes (#10) preparation, not this one.

Nothing confirmed. Cast's leading community test is in the opening animal tutorial, which happens long before Kyle appears.

Before you follow a route: official game facts and player route notes can differ. The ending count and the in-game gallery are confirmed by the developer's itch.io page for Oniray's The False Sun; the per-ending triggers, reload checkpoints and evidence levels come from community-tested route data. The game ships no visible stat screen, so Agility, Bravery and Convincing are community route labels rather than developer-published values. Treat a single retry as a test, not a guarantee.
