What Is Cast?
Cast is Ending 20 — the rarest of The False Sun's 20 endings. It is the rare variant of the True Ending. The two end at the same scene but Cast carries a different final line, and the path to it requires a Convincing value most players never reach by accident.
Cast is reachable only from the Truth track. It requires pushing the second-question reply in every Act 1 dialogue, walking to the pier, crossing the river, and passing both late-game arguments. The Convincing threshold is the > 3 cutoff that sets Cast apart from the unnumbered True End.
The Convincing Threshold
The single most important variable for Cast is Convincing. It is built by pushing the second-question reply in every dialogue and is read at the late crossroad. The thresholds are:
Why Cast takes 10+ runs
Convincing rarely maxes out by accident. It is built by pushing the second-question reply in three Act 1 scenes (Eyes, the chore scene, the second-question reply), the pier scene in Act 2, and passing both late-game arguments. Most players skip at least one of these on a first run. The save rotation on the save points guide can compress this to 5–6 targeted runs.
Six Steps To Cast
These are the six checkpoints that produce Cast. If you hit every one of them, you will land on Cast.
Set tier to Truth
At the very first crossroad, ask the second question. Lean Truth from the first reply. Cast is a Truth-tier ending; Trust, Burn, and Forget tier runs cannot reach it.
Push the second-question reply everywhere
Convincing is built in three places in Act 1: the Eyes scene, the chore scene, and the second-question reply at the early crossroad. Do not let Silas deflect. Push each one.
Walk to the pier and ask the second water question
Choose the pier route over the kitchen route. Ask one extra question about what is in the water. This raises Convincing by 1.
Cross the river
The river scene is the only place Bravery is set in isolation. Cross the river. Raises Bravery by 1 and Agility by 1. Low Bravery locks you out of Cast.
Pass both late-game arguments
The late game has a dialogue gauntlet that reads your Convincing value. Pass Argument 1 (Convincing ≥ 2 required) and Argument 2 (Convincing ≥ 3 required). If you fail Argument 1, you fall to You Were Not Convincing Enough.
Take the middle reply
Take the middle reply at the late crossroad. With Convincing > 3, this is Cast. With Convincing 2–3, this is the unnumbered True End. The first reply locks Trust. The third locks Burn.
What Cast Looks Like
Cast and True end at the same scene. The difference is a final line that only Cast carries. Players who reach Cast describe it as the moment the story stops lying to itself — the warm door is the same warm door, but the line underneath it is no longer the one Silas was rehearsing.
Cast vs True vs He Let You Go
- Cast is the rare Truth ending. Requires Convincing > 3 and the middle reply.
- True is the unnumbered honest Truth ending. Requires Convincing 2–3 and the middle reply.
- He Let You Go is the warmest Trust ending. Pure Trust run, no Truth flags, second reply at the crossroad. See the He Let You Go guide.
- Wounded Lamb is the Truth-Burn hybrid. Truth flags plus a Burn pivot in Act 3.
Save Point Strategy For Cast
To reach Cast in fewer runs, save at every Convincing-relevant checkpoint:
- Save 1 after the Eyes flag (Act 1).
- Save 2 after the chore scene second-question reply.
- Save 3 before the pier (Act 2).
- Save 4 before the river.
- Save 5 before the late crossroad.
This rotation lets you replay Argument 1 and Argument 2 up to five different ways from a single Convincing-maximizing run. The full save rotation is on the save points guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Cast is the rare variant of the True Ending. They end at the same scene, but Cast carries a different final line. The unnumbered True End is reachable with Convincing between 2 and 3. Cast is reachable with Convincing greater than 3.
Cast is the rarest ending in The False Sun. Most players hit it on their tenth or later run because Convincing rarely maxes out by accident. The save rotation strategy can compress this to 5-6 runs.
No. Cast is a Truth-tier ending. The first crossroad in Act 1 sets your tier to Truth, Trust, Burn, or Forget, and only Truth-tier runs can reach Cast. Trust runs land on He Let You Go, Does Not Let Go, Rake, or A Day That Was.
Convincing must be greater than 3 going into the final crossroad. Convincing between 2 and 3 gives you the unnumbered True End. Convincing less than 2 falls to You Were Not Convincing Enough (Trust) or You Were the One Who Closed the Door (Burn).
A targeted Cast run takes 45-60 minutes. Most players need 8-12 runs to hit Cast because Convincing rarely maxes out by accident. The save rotation on the save points guide can compress this to 5-6 runs.
Play the Game
Cast is the most useful guide to read after you have hit True at least once. The game is free, runs in your browser, takes about 30–60 minutes per run, and requires no install.
