Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the-false-sun.com (referred to as "we", "us", "the site", or "this portal") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you visit our pages or play one of the free browser games we host. By using this website you agree to the data practices described below.
Short version: We are a small, non-commercial fan portal. We do not require an account. We do not sell your data. The only third parties that may place cookies on your device are Google (AdSense) and two privacy-friendly analytics providers (Plausible and 1back.link). You can opt out of non-essential cookies at any time using the consent banner at the bottom of every page.

1. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to the website the-false-sun.com and all sub-pages hosted under that domain, including but not limited to /cobb-can-move/, /kingdom-of-marionettes/, /the-freak-circus/, /survive-min/, and /anomalous-coffee-machine-2/. It does not apply to the external game builds that we embed via iframe — those are served by their original developers under their own privacy practices (see section 6).
2. What we collect
Because this is a free, no-account, no-download portal, the data we collect is limited to what your browser and our third-party partners automatically send. Specifically:
- Server logs — IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamp. These are kept by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) for up to 7 days for security and abuse prevention, then deleted.
- Cookie consent preference — we store a single boolean flag (
cookie_consent) so that we do not show the consent banner again after you have chosen. - Aggregated analytics — page views, country (coarse), and referrer. We do not see your individual identity.
We do not collect your name, email, postal address, phone number, payment data, or any government identifier. The portal does not offer user accounts, comments, or direct messaging.
3. Cookies and local storage
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. We use two types:
- Strictly necessary — a single first-party cookie called
cookie_consentremembers whether you have accepted or rejected non-essential cookies. It expires after 12 months. - Non-essential — set by Google AdSense, Plausible, and 1back.link only after you click Accept on the consent banner.
You can clear all cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings. Most modern browsers also offer a "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" toggle; we honour these as a rejection signal.
4. Google AdSense and advertising
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. AdSense is a Google service that may set or read cookies and use device identifiers to deliver and measure ads. Google uses the data it collects to:
- Show ads that match your interests or general location.
- Measure ad performance (impressions, clicks).
- Detect and prevent ad fraud.
Google may also use your data for the purposes described in its own privacy policy. You can learn more, including how to opt out of personalised advertising, at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Our publisher ID is ca-pub-2745753897424989. Ads are clearly labelled "Advertisement", "Sponsored", or "AdChoices".
Note on "fan" content: The games embedded on this site are the work of their original creators. We are a non-commercial fan portal. Advertisements help cover hosting and bandwidth costs only. We do not control which specific ads Google serves, and we do not endorse any advertised product or service.
5. Analytics providers
We use three analytics services. None of them receive personally identifying information from us.
- Plausible Analytics (plausible.io/data-policy) — a cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics provider based in the EU. No personal data, no cross-site tracking, no IP addresses stored.
- 1back.link Plausible mirror — the same Plausible product served through the 1back.link infrastructure for redundancy. Same data policy applies.
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — set only with your consent. GA4 uses first-party cookies with random IDs. You can opt out via the consent banner, your browser's privacy settings, or by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
6. Third-party game builds (embedded iframes)
Some pages on this site embed playable game builds from external developers through an <iframe>. These iframes load content directly from the developer's own server, which means:
- The developer (e.g.
kingdomofmarionettes.net) may see your IP address and browser fingerprint. - The developer may set their own cookies and use their own analytics inside the iframe.
- Any progress / save data you create while playing is stored on the developer's side, not on our servers.
When you click "Play" or load the iframe, the external developer becomes a joint data controller for that session. We have no control over the data they collect. If you have concerns, please close the iframe and use the "Open in New Tab" button to play in your own browser session without our wrapper.
7. Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, UK GDPR)
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data.
- Restriction — limit how we process your data.
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Withdraw consent — change your cookie / analytics preferences at any time.
- Lodge a complaint — with your local data protection authority.
Because we do not collect any data that can identify you directly, most of these rights are moot — there is no profile to delete, export, or correct. For anything that does flow through Google, please contact Google directly. For anything else, see the Contact page.
8. Children's privacy
This site is intended for mature audiences (18+) and we do not knowingly collect any data from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has interacted with the site, please contact us so we can review.
9. Data retention
- Server logs (Cloudflare): up to 7 days, then deleted.
- Cookie consent flag: 12 months from your last visit.
- Aggregated analytics: retained indefinitely in fully anonymised form by Plausible and 1back.link. Google Analytics 4 data is auto-deleted after 14 months.
10. Security
We use HTTPS (TLS) for all traffic between your browser and our servers. Our hosting is provided by Cloudflare, which adds a layer of DDoS protection and bot filtering. We do not store passwords, payment information, or any other high-value personal data — the attack surface for a data breach is therefore very small.
No system is 100% secure. If you discover a vulnerability, please report it responsibly via the Contact page.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. If the changes are material, we will display a banner on the home page for 30 days. Continuing to use the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
12. Contact
For any privacy-related question, please visit our Contact page and use the privacy / data request form. We aim to respond within 7 business days.
