What Is He Let You Go?
He Let You Go is the most-celebrated Trust-tier ending of The False Sun. It is the ending where the player accepts every offer of warmth, never questions the smile, and walks into the field at the end. The farm becomes safer. The kitchen becomes home. The missing pieces stop mattering — or do they. The title refers to Silas letting go of the player (or the player letting go of him, depending on how you read it).
It is not the rarest ending (that is Cast) and it is not the most honest (that is True). It is the warmest, and the ending most players come back to.
Heads up — Trust routes are easy to fall into by accident
If you play The False Sun the way most players naturally play a visual novel — accepting offers, staying in the kitchen, holding the hand — you will land on He Let You Go or one of its siblings (Does Not Let Go, Rake, A Day That Was) on your first run. The route is short because the game rewards warmth. If you actually want to plan for it, this page is for you.
The Recipe In One Paragraph
He Let You Go recipe
- Tier: Trust (set in Act 1, first crossroad — accept the porch, do not push).
- Relationship Alignment: High. Sit on the porch. Eat breakfast. Hold the hand.
- Agility: High. Complete every farm chore scene in Acts 1 and 2.
- Convincing: Doesn't matter. Do not argue.
- Bravery: Doesn't matter. Do not cross the river.
- Truth flags: Zero. Never ask the second question. Never ask about the name.
- Final crossroad: The second reply (the kitchen one). The first reply locks Rake; the third locks Burn.
Choice Map, Scene By Scene
Every decision that matters for He Let You Go, in order. Anything not listed here, default to "accept warmth".
| Scene | Choice that hits He Let You Go | What to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Act 1 · Arrival | Accept the porch. Do not push the first question. | Asking the second question locks the Truth track. |
| Act 1 · First chore | Take the rake. Complete the chore. | Skipping two chores tanks Agility. |
| Act 1 · Eyes scene | Do not ask his old name. Accept the present name. | Asking sets the Eyes flag and begins nudging you toward Truth. |
| Act 2 · Pier vs kitchen | Stay in the kitchen. Eat breakfast with Kyle. | Walking to the pier sets You Will Always Remember and locks the Truth tier. |
| Act 2 · The river | Stay on the bank. Do not step in. | Crossing raises Bravery and nudges you toward Wounded Lamb or True. |
| Act 2 · The porch | Sit on the porch. Accept the coat. Walk into the field when offered. | Refusing the coat or skipping the porch scene tanks Relationship Alignment. |
| Act 3 · Late crossroad | Take the second reply (the kitchen one). | First reply locks Rake. Third reply locks Burn endings. |
What You Get For Reaching He Let You Go
The ending is short, quiet, and most-quoted. Silas does not give a speech. The farm does not change. You walk into the field and the field lets you. The final line is the one fans keep returning to — it is not on a card and it is not in a dialogue box. You will know it when you see it.
What Happens If You Slip
He Let You Go lives in a tight neighborhood of similar Trust endings. If you slip one of the rules above, you will probably still land on a Trust ending, just not He Let You Go specifically. Common near-misses:
- You set the Eyes flag → likely The Cage Really Was Golden or You Were Not Convincing Enough instead.
- You skipped two chores → He No Longer Believes or You Should Have Been Braver.
- You crossed the river → Wounded Lamb (Truth-Burn hybrid).
- You took the third reply at the late crossroad → You Made Your Choice (Burn).
Save Point Strategy
To replay He Let You Go reliably, you need at least three saves per route:
- Save 1 at the end of Act 1 — lets you replay the pier vs kitchen choice cheaply.
- Save 2 before the porch scene — lets you retry the warm-coat option.
- Save 3 before the late crossroad — lets you flip the crossroad reply without resetting.
The full save rotation lives on the save points guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
It is the most-celebrated ending of The False Sun and the closest the game gets to a clean Good End. Whether it is the 'best' is subjective — Cast is rarer, True is more honest, Wounded Lamb is sadder — but He Let You Go is the warmest and most replayed route.
No. He Let You Go is a pure Trust run. Setting even one Truth flag (Eyes, the pier, or the second-question) is enough to nudge you toward the Truth variant and away from He Let You Go. The route requires you to never call the smile out.
The ending's title refers to Silas letting go of the player (or the player letting go of him, depending on reading). The farm is warm, the kitchen is home, the field is yours, and the story ends without naming what just happened. It is the most quoted ending in the fandom.
A single Truth flag does not always lock you out of He Let You Go — it depends on which flag and how late. If you set Eyes early and then take the second reply at the late crossroad, you might still land on He Let You Go. If you set the pier flag, you almost certainly will not. The safest run sets zero Truth flags.
About 30 minutes if you are skipping reading. Closer to 50 on a first playthrough because you will want to soak up the porch and the field scenes. The Trust route has the most reading per minute of any cluster.
